You’re super excited about your engagement session with TM Grey Photo, and you should be. However, some people are nervous about getting them done. Engagement sessions are complimentary with my wedding packages, but they are also available as portrait sessions separately.

Getting engagement photos done gives you a chance to be comfortable with the photographer. Many couples have never had professional photos taken of them, and it’s perfectly understandable to be a little nervous. I always help direct my clients to make them look and feel their best. You can also test out your professional hair and makeup artist(s) for the pictures. It’s great practice getting comfortable with having your picture taken. It’s very different from snapping a selfie or getting a group photo taken on your phone.

You’ll be able to see how my style is reflected in your photos, too. Engagement sessions create a trust system between the two of you and me, the photographer. I want you to fall in love with your photos, and establishing a good relationship with your photographer can really help on the wedding day. There is already so much going on that day, and it’s good to have someone you can trust to rely on.

Photos are perfect for save the dates and home decor. There are several different ways you can use them on your cards when you send them out to your guest list. Your guests will get a nice, professional photo of you as a keepsake, even if they can’t make it. And I know from personal experience how much parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles love showing a recent photo of you guys to all their friends.

For your home decor, get some cute frames and put them around your house filled with cute couples photos. Some people like to wear outfits that go with their color schemes throughout their homes. It’s also a good thing to have nice photos other than the ones being taken on your wedding day. It adds a variation of photos and looks across your home.

An engagement session can be really romantic. Maybe you are getting them done in the place you both grew up, where your fiancé popped the question, or where you had your first date. The engagement session is there for you two to sit back and relax and not worry about all the wedding details. You’ve got catering, invitations, seating, guest lists, bridesmaid dresses, venue choices, the budget, your honeymoon, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. During the session, it’s just you two and me to capture those sweet moments.

I’ve had couples portraits taken of my boyfriend and me. I love the butterflies in my stomach and the way he looks at me, and we pose. It’s the same smile I’ve seen every day, but knowing that those moments were getting captured made it so much better. You spend quality time together just looking at each other with hearts in your eyes. Plus, after getting the camera ready, it’s the perfect excuse for a date night after the session.
